What Are Those Boots Everyone's Jumping Around In?!

Yes, Los Angeles is home to some of the most creative, wacky, and influential people in the world. There’s always something new and exciting happening, and we are HERE for it. But why is everyone bouncing around instead of walking?

By now you’ve probably seen them—those black and red boots that turn people into human trampolines. They’re being utilized on sidewalks, in gyms, in parking lots—everywhere. What’s going on, and who’s responsible for this?

Meet personal trainer and fitness personality Melina Nasab, who started an entire movement with these boots.

The “Kangaboot by #melinamethod” is a low-impact, shock-absorbing boot that is proven to help you burn 50% more calories throughout your workout.

From a simple vertical bounce you can incorporate jumping jacks or dance moves. You can even lay down and mix in some inner-thigh and/or ab exercises. If you check out her Instagram, Melina makes it clear that the possibilities are endless with these things.

Although some may think it looks “silly” to bounce around in some of the busier streets of LA or Beverly Hills, the joy they bring to people clearly seem to outweigh the potential “embarrassment,” says Melina.

“I started this venture because it fits right in with my whole approach to fitness in general. Exercise should be a FUN activity that falls into your self-care routine. There is something for everyone. If you don’t enjoy running, try swimming! If you don’t enjoy swimming, try jump roping, yoga, boxing, KANGABOOTING,” says the founder of this widespread movement.

“It is nearly impossible not to smile and laugh when you’re in the Kangaboot, all while getting a great workout in! It honestly doesn’t even mentally feel like exercise because you are so distracted at how much fun you’re having.”

Melina, who also trains regularly in the greater Los Angeles are says that common injury restrictions within traditional personal training cause knee, hip, and back pains. But the boots prevent those problems. “This boot absorbs all the shock from impact, so there are no excuses for why you can’t get your heart rate up and improve your cardiovascular system!”

Nothing makes Melina happier than seeing someone in their Kangaboots for the first time, especially after hesitating trying them.

Yes, it takes a certain level of confidence to rock these Kanga boots, and that’s the other reason why Melina started this movement. “I want more people to feel unapologetically confident doing things that make them happy. If more people are bouncing around in confidence, it will inspire others to do the same. Every time I run(bounce) around town, I always get stopped to talk about what these are because people think they’re COOL and FUN! Not ridiculous or silly! It takes smiling at strangers to a whole new level.”

These days, Melina hosts a KangaRunClub once a week that’s open to anyone who owns a pair (nice way to enjoy a free #melinamethod session) and will be teaching her KangaBOOTCamp at a studio in Weho next month!
